We have a vaulted ceiling in our main living area and most lamps just disappear in the space. This one holds its own beautifully. The carved baluster column has so much visual interest and the distressed gold finish feels layered and authentic, not shiny or fake. At night when it is on it throws the most lovely warm light across the room, very cozy and relaxing. The linen drum shade keeps things soft and the dimmer on the socket is genuinely useful for movie nights. The base is sturdy and well balanced, no tipping concerns even with our dog zooming around.
